Author Consignment

The Basics

Consignment is available to local self-published authors and small publishers whose books are not available through our distributors at standard terms. The main factors that determine whether or not we will carry a book are local interest, production quality, season, and shelf space. Books must be perfect bound or hardcover with the title printed on the spine.

The Process

If you agree with the consignment terms below, please download and complete our submission form and return to us physically or through email to info@pagesandparchment.com. This will give us the opportunity to review your submission for professional publishing standards and sales potential. We accept consignment from January through October each year. We often have heavy volumes of submissions so please allow up to 6 weeks. We will be in contact with you via email.

The Terms

• FEE: Consignment is labor intensive—creating accounts, tracking sales, managing stock and issuing payment must be done for each consigned author. Recognizing this, Pages & Parchment collects a non-refundable one-time service fee of $30 per title.

• TERM: If approved, the initial order will be 3 copies and the consignment period is for 3 months (quarterly). If those copies sell, we may contact you to bring in more copies and if your book continues to sell well, we may agree to extend the consignment agreement.

• SALES: For sold books, the consignor will receive 60% of the retail price, and Pages & Parchment will retain 40%.

• PAYMENT: Sales are calculated during our consignment review period four times a year (January, April, July, and October). At the end of each review period, Pages & Parchment will contact the consignor to arrange for payment of sold books, return of unsold books, or renewal of the consignment contract. Any postage or shipping fees are the responsibility of the consignor. Any unsold books will be held for pickup for 30 days. After that, any unclaimed books become the property of the bookstore and may be donated or destroyed.

• LIABILITY: Pages & Parchment is not responsible for any damaged/stolen books.

• AI POLICY: Pages & Parchment proudly supports human creativity and skill and does not accept any material that has been created with the use of generative AI (artificial intelligence). Books containing AI-generated cover art, illustrations or written content will not be considered.
